What is Speed Test Smarts?
Speed Test Smarts is an application that collects anonymous information about the quality of user experience. SpeedTest Smarts collects technical data from the phone (for instance network information and throughput) to help understand how they can influence the service perception.
Data will be processed by SMARTS S.r.l. Spin-Off UNIRC in according to European Union General Data Protection Regulation introduced in May 2018 only for the purpose related to the use of Speed Test Smarts and in order to improve the network experience of the customer.
No sensitive private information will be collected by Speed Test Smarts.

SMARTS would like to collect technical data from your phone. This Privacy Statement explains more about why SMARTS would like to collect this data and how the data will be treated. Please read this Statement carefully.
If you agree to install Speed Test Smarts, you automatically consent to SMARTS collecting and using the data as set out in this Privacy Statement. If you do not consent to SMARTS collecting and using the data as set out in this Privacy Statement, please do not install Speed Test Smarts on your device. If you do not consent to SMARTS collecting and using the data as set out in this Privacy Statement no data referred to in this Privacy Statement will be transmitted from your phone via Speed Test Smarts. By downloading this software you consent to SMARTS collecting, storing and using the information about your device for the purposes specified in this Statement.
Why does SMARTS want to collect this data?
SMARTS is a provider of products and solutions designed and implemented to help telecommunication operators to monitor and to enhance the quality of experience offered to their subscribers. Speed Test Smarts has been designed with the objective of providing an interesting set of features that will help end users understanding the service quality and interacting with their carrier. Furthermore, Speed Test Smarts collects technical information that will help to the telecommunication operator to improve the quality of experience delivered to the subscriber through the telecommunication network. With the objective of providing a telecommunication network quality of experience monitoring solution, Speed Test Smarts requires your absolute consent and agreement. SMARTS will not use data collected via Speed Test Smarts other than for the reasons set out in this Privacy Statement, without your consent.
What data does SMARTS want to collect from your phone?
SMARTS would like to collect some technical data from your phone:
- network information that will help to understand how it can affect to your service perception;
- call related events to understand possible problems: Dropped or Failed Calls;
- no service events to understand possible cellular coverage problems;
- throughput on the speed tests and on applications to identify network issues;
SMARTS hereby confirms that it does not collect any sensitive data such as visited URLs, telephone numbers, keystrokes, etc.
Technical data will be located when positioning service (GPS) will be activated.
How does SMARTS collect the data and how often?
The technical parameters described above are recorded and stored locally on your device. Your device will transmit the collected data by means of a HTTPs connection to the SMARTS servers. These secure servers could be accessible by your carrier with the only objective of providing you a better service by monitoring the technical parameters and events described above. Speed Test Smarts will transparently collect data, and once the recorded data has been securely received and stored by a SMARTS server, this will be confirmed to Speed Test Smarts and the locally stored data will be deleted. Please note that the objective of the present Privacy Statement is that SMARTS does not send data to third parties without your consent.
